Bread & Justice Work π«Άπ½
Dec & Jan updates & orders available!
Good morning bread friends,
I hope your January is off to a pleasant start.
First, Sourdough bread and English muffins are both available for order for this week! That includes Bread Club for the month of January! If you know youβll want bread for the next 4 weeks, you might consider joining Bread Club for the month :)
After a restful two week break from the bakery, Iβm pumped to be jumping back into a weekly rhythm of baking. It feels grounding to return to this work with you all.
I also want to give an update on December giving. For the month of December, we were donating 100% of our profits to Community Immigration Law Center. Thanks to your support, Bread & Justice was able to donate $499 in December to Community Immigration Law Center to support their work of providing legal representation and access to justice for people facing threats of deportation in our community. As always, Iβm grateful to get to practice generosity with you.

I also want to pause and say Thank You. A deep, sincere, thank you to this community.
Over the past few weeks, so many of you have shown up for me and my family in ways that I wonβt forget. The number of thoughtful email replies, text, phone calls, reassuring prayers, and offers for coffee brainstorm meetings is far beyond what I could have imagined when I shared the news that I lost my job.
You never know what life has in store⦠but taking the time to be an encouragement matters so much.
Iβve felt very held by this community, and I canβt express how grateful I am to have you in my corner. Thank you for your kindness and care.

Looking ahead, Iβm also glad to share our donation partner for January: Briarpatch Youth Services, Inc. Iβm excited to support them, and lift up their work of supporting youth who are struggling with homelessness, job seeking, and working to avoid the criminal justice system.
Transparent reminder: As I noted in a previous email, during this season, Iβm not in a position to donate my time to the bakery in the same way I have for the past several years. That means my time will become an ordinary operating expense to the business. As a result, I our monthly donation totals will be lower than what weβve been able to give in past months. Even so, Iβm still deeply committed to this model of donating profits after expenses, and choosing to be grateful to explore how to push this business to new territories of learning about how to be sustainable.
Thanks, as always, for being here. Thanks for buying bread, for believing in this project, and for practicing care and justice in everyday ways.
See you soon with bread.
Cheers,
Mo
baker :)
