Good morning bread friends!
It was a true delight to do two bake days for you all last week. I loved hearing stories of how sourdough made it onto your tables for Thanksgiving.
Today I have a few brief updates for my bake schedule for December.
Iโll be baking this weekend & also next weekend.
Then Iโll be taking the last two weeks of December off.
This means a few things:
If you want bread for the whole month, youโre welcome to order extra loaves this week or next. Sourdough keeps brilliantly in the freezer. I prefer to slice it before I freeze it. Then it is easy to toast slices as needed. I know some of you keep whole loaves in the freezer. If you do that, then you can just thaw a loaf in the fridge for a few hours, and then revive the whole loaf in the oven on ~350 for maybe 15 minutes.
Bread Club will be back in January! Since Iโm only baking for two weekends in December, Iโm going to pause Bread Club this month, in order to let members order however many loaves theyโd like to for this week and next week. When Bread Club resumes the first weekend of January, I anticipate offering not only a monthly pre-order, but a monthly subscription. Stay tuned!
With December being a shortened month for baking, that means it is also a shortened month for donations. Iโve decided to keep donating to Centro for two extra weeks. As I was considering what to donate to for December, I saw this story in Madison365 about Centro renaming their popular student scholarship program after beloved Latina leader Lucรญa Nรบรฑez who passed away recently. I knew Lucรญa primarily when she was serving as the City of Madisonโs director of the Department of Civil Rights. Our paths overlapped while I was on the Madison City Council, where I was constantly impressed by her thoughtful leadership. But she had plenty of leadership roles in Madison, including serving as the Executive Director of Centro Hispano for several years. Honoring her memory by donating Decemberโs profits to Centroโs scholarship program feels like a wonderful thing to do. Thank you for being a part of supporting this scholarship program at Centro that opens doors to higher education for Latine, immigrant, and under-resourced students, ensuring that financial obstacles do not stand in the way of dreams.
As alwaysโฆ thank you for being a part of this community!
Iโm really looking forward to making you all some more bread this week :)
Cheers,
Mo Cheeks
