Good morning bread friends!
First, I have to offer a big thank you. I've noticed that the number of subscribers to this newsletter is growing each week. I can only attribute that to you all spreading the word about what we do. Thank you very much!
The most common question I get from folks who are new to learning about Bread & Justice is, "Where do you sell bread?"
The fact of the matter is, Bread & Justice is run differently than a typical storefront bakery.
We are a cottage bakery, which means that all of our bread is made out of my home. And in our case, it sold from my home on the west side of Madison.
We maintain an email newsletter announcing when bread sales will occur. This newsletter is the hub of the business.
The current schedule for the bakery goes like this:
Thursdays: Bread & Justice newsletter is sent to this full list, which includes a link to our e-commerce site where customers can pre-order sourdough bread for pickup that Saturday. (in your order confirmation is a reminder of the pickup window and the address for my house)
Friday: I get to have fun making dough!
Saturday: I bake all of your sourdough bread early in the morning & then customers who've pre-ordered bread come and pick it up at my house during the pickup window of Saturday 11am - 2pm.
Again, I know this is a different way to run a bakery - but I'm delighted to be a part of a large industry of cottage bakers across Wisconsin and across the Country. And I feel especially fortunate to be a part of a community like Madison where people are inclined to support locally sourced and handmade food.
Anyway, if you haven't already clicked any of the links above out of curiosity...
π² click this link to order bread for pickup this Saturday. I'll be really excited to serve you bread. π₯
Cheers,
Mo Cheeks
P.S. If you remember how you heard about Bread & Justice, I'd be really glad to get a bunch of replies shouting out the awesome people who told you about this little business. I'm looking forward to hearing from you ;)
