As promisedβ¦ after a July break, Iβm back in the bakery this week to making fresh loaves for you all!
I spent the past month soaking up summer each weekend. Our family took a trip up to the Twin Cities⦠which turned into a bit of a bakery tour. Two of my favorites were Razava Bread Co and Brake Bread. Plus of course, Opus Bakehouse on the way home!

We also visited Pizzeria Lola, where I had some of the best pizza of my life. I donβt say that lightly. This pizza place has been on my wishlist since I saw the Netflix special on them a couple years ago. It did not disappoint!
Thanks for your patience and support while I was out. Iβve missed baking for you!
Two updates:
β’ Bread is available for pre-order now for pickup this Saturday. π² Tap here to order.
β’ We wonβt have Bread Club this month, as Iβve still got a couple weekends of travel in August before school starts back up.
Donationβs from June:
This weekβs Wisconsin State Journal ran a sobering story about the disastrous impacts of federal cuts to food assistance programs, and how theyβre leaving local food pantries overwhelmed and under-resourced. As it says in the story, many organizations are experiencing a double-whammy of cuts to federal food assistance funding and an increase in the number of hungry people coming through their doors in this economy.
These cuts from the Trump administration are inhumane and unjust. And it is exactly why several times already this year weβve donated our profits to local organizations working to address food insecurity.
In June we shared that we were donating 100% of our profits to Second Harvest. Because of your support, we were able to donate $180.50 to help them feed our neighbors here in Dane county that are struggling to find food.
Where our profits are going in August:
While I was in the twin cities & Western Wisconsin I learned about a very cool initiative in the area. This month, weβre donating 100% of our profits to Gundersen Medical Foundation, supporting their Mobile Medicine work across Western Wisconsin. This team provides traveling medical care facilities that reach unsheltered and underserved communities in this region of our state.
They do a lot of cool work, but one program that specifically speaks to me is their outreach program called Farm Fridays. This is where twice a month, the mobile clinic visits rural farms in Western Wisconsin where migrant workers and seasonal workers are hard at work harvesting food for our tables. On top of the grueling and unstable work, these folks often face transportation, language, and scheduling barriers to access quality medical care. Farm Fridays is an innovative and proactive initiative to offer predictable primary care right where people live and work.
Thanks for being part of this work to make the world a little more just.
Cheers,
Mo the baker
P.S. For those of you keeping tabs on English muffinsβ¦you will be happy to know that this past month involved plenty of R&D on English muffins. Iβm in the final stages of working to make sure that they consistently turn out roughly the same way each time. For now my kids are happily volunteering as the official taste-testers and they seem quite confident weβre onto something π
