Good morning bread friends!
It has been a while longer than I expected, but I'm pleased to share that I'm doing another bread sale right now.
Have you ever seen or heard the quote about self-reflection that goes:
βHow on earth could I know what I think about a thing until I've heard what I have to say on the subject? How can I know what I think till I see what I say?β
βW. H. Auden
This morning I started writing a letter about my observations of trends within the cottage baking industry. As I wrote for a while I noticed that I have more to say about growth, burnout, ambition, and contentment than I expected. With a jumble of ideas on these topics β Iβve decided I want to sit with my thoughts on these things for a while longer before publishing anything.
Suffice it to say that I'm mixing dough todayβ¦ and Iβm baking bread tomorrowβ¦ because I'm intentionally working to get my hands back into the dough. For the benefit of your bread consumption, and for my own sanity :)
All profits from this bake are being donated to support The Black Business Hub that The Urban League of Greater Madison is currently building. You may have read about it in any number of articles in the past year, but The Hub will offer a one-stop, place-based system of entrepreneurial support, loans, grants, technical assistance, and networking. The Hub has the potential to be transformational for generations of Black entrepreneurism in the Madison region. I see it creating jobs, generating wealth, incubating new ideas, nurturing talent, and keeping people from feeling like they need to leave our community in order to find success. Thanks for being willing to support this awesome project!
After you order your bread... you can also check out this video of Bread & Justice being featured on PBS. They filmed this probably a year and half ago, but it only finally aired a few months ago. I recently re-watched this video and it helped remind me why I love this all so much.
Thanks for making these dreams possible.
Cheers,
Mo
