Where Do We Go From Here?
Community is the answer. And Bread Club!

As I sat down to write to you all this morning I realized Iβm going to need more time to decompress before I write at length about my reflections on the presidential election.
Suffice it to say that yesterday was rough.
But somehow Iβm clinging to the sentiment of this poster that Cyrus made and then taped to the wall a few months ago.
In my humble opinion, raising kids to be kind humans is the coolest way to swim upstream in a society that sometimes feels like it is deprioritizing kindness and decency.
Today the pit in my stomach is less than it was yesterday for a few reasons:
because Iβm successfully reminding myself that the opportunity to swim up stream is greater than I realized.
because nothing about our government is going to change the way that I strive to model truth & love to my kids.
because there is no alternative to continuing to build for the next generation.

A good portion of Bread & Justice customers are weekly recurring customers, and a number of you have asked how to guarantee you can get a loaf each week before it sells out. The solution to that is an offering that Iβm bringing back from a couple years agoβ¦ it is called Bread Club!
Bread Club is a subscription for sourdough bread every Saturday for the month. This subscription is perfect for anyone who knows that they'll want to get bread every week and wants to avoid the risk of pre-orders selling out before they get around to placing their order.Β
This is a 4-week commitment and a refund can't be issued for any missed pick up, so please make sure to sign up only if you can pick up for each Saturday this month.
For this first week of November, Iβm focusing on setting up the systems for Bread Club - so for anyone who wants to order bread for the month of November, please go ahead and do so here.
No problem if youβre not ready to join Bread Club and want to stick to weekly ordering. Iβll have individual loaves for order again next week.
This month, weβll be donating 100% of our profits to βCentro. They are the leading non-profit serving Latinx in Dane County. You all know that I typically take a few paragraphs to elaborate on my choice of who weβre donating to each month and how that fits into our mission. Iβm going to ask for your patience with me until next week on this. Consistent with the theme at the top of this emailβ¦ Iβm going to need more time to reflect on the ramifications of this election before I write about itβ¦ but Centroβs work in our community feels particularly vital to serving a population that must feel particularly vulnerable in this moment.
