Good morning bread friends,
I hope youβre doing well and your loved ones are healthy.
Last month on Indigenous Peopleβs Day, I was doing a good amount of reading about Indigenous food sovereignty. I shared some of my learnings in one of my newsletters at the time. With November being recognized as Native American Heritage Monthβ¦ I feel like this is an opportunity for us at Bread & Justice to dig a little deeper together.
Our partner for November
This month weβll be donating 100% of our profits to the Native American Food Sovereignty Alliance (NAFSA). NAFSA is a nonprofit that was created to advocate for and support all levels of food security and food sovereignty in local, tribal, regional, national, and international arenas. They do this through advocacy, education, and networking of grassroots practitioners, communities, and tribal governments as they revitalize their indigenous food systems.
Donating profits from October
There are some new subscribers lately - so as a reminder - Bread & Justice as a philanthropic enterprise. 100% of the profits from the sale of bread are donated to organizations working towards a more just society. For the month of October, this community came together to support the Centro Hispano of Dane County. After all of the bread that you purchased, and all of the generous donations that were made directly to Bread & Justice on our website, we are able to donate a total of $368 this month toΒ this important organization that is creating community for and creating support systems for our Latinx brothers and sisters in Dane County. As Iβve shared before, Centro does this by providing support to families with basic needs, housing and immigration, developing workforce skills in high-demand sectors like healthcare, and working with youth navigating various learning needs during a pandemic.
As usual, this email is also a reminder to anyone in Madison who is interested in eating hand-made sourdough bread that now is the perfect time to go to our page to pre-order bread for Thursday pick up.
Thank you :)
